If you’ve come across any Korean women, the first thing that often gets noticed is their beautiful glowing skin. Korean women believe in investing the time and effort to achieve flawless dewy skin. Before I go through the steps, as a pre-warning, do not panic at the number of steps in this skincare routine, your skin will thank you at the end of it.

Step 1: Cleanse using oil based cleanser.
The Banila Co. Clean It Zero, is a product that was recommended to me, and as someone who has previously used other well known cleansing oils brands, brand of which I will not name, I think that the Banila Co. Clean It Zero cleansing balm is a much superior product, as it removes even the stubborn waterproof make up with ease. This product is a win-win for both my skin and purse.
Step 2: Cleansing, and no it is not a typo, step 2 is cleansing again.
You might ask, why do I need to cleanse my face again when I’ve just cleansed it a few second before. Double cleansing ensures that your skin is squeaky clean. No more seeing make up or sebum residues when applying toner. Check out our range of cleansers for all different skin types.

Step 3: Exfoliation
The exfoliation process removes dead skin cell, which has built up on the outer surface of the skin to ensure that any subsequent product that you lather on will be able to work more effectively. Exfoliators these days are much more interesting than the traditional sugar scrub for face or salt scrub for body. It ranges from dual-purpose pads, facial peel to exfoliation stick. Check out the COSRX One Step Moisture Up Pad, that exfoliates on the embossed side and turn over to the smooth side for a toner, 2in1 solution.

Step 4: Toner
Toner provides the first dose of moisture to the skin after all the cleansing and exfoliation. It also helps restore the skin’s pH balance, which is important to ensure that the skin doesn’t dry out from unbalanced pH, which could result in breakouts. Use COSRX AHA BHA Clarifying Treatment toner to get clearer and smoother skin.
Step 5: Facial Mask
Where do I start, the potential of what facial mask can do for your skin is limitless. It’s all about choices here, for hydration pick the Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask or have some fun with the Mediheal Mogongtox Soda Bubble Sheet Mask, which helps clean deep into your pores. For acne or blemish skin, Mediheal’s Essential Tea Tree Mask is an absolute saver or Primera’s Seed and Sprout Energy Sugar Apple mask can help firm and lift your skin to prevent ageing. Whilst this step doesn’t need to be incorporated into the daily routine, I highly recommend using facial mask 2-3 times a week to get the best result.

Step 6: Eye Mask
If you haven’t managed to get much shut eye time, I would take a quick moment to apply a eye mask. All it takes is a couple of minutes for the eye mask to do its magic. It can diminish puffiness, brighten dark circle and provide the essential moisture to the delicate eye area to reduce signs of fatigue. Check out the Too Cool For School Coconut Oil Serum Eye Patch.

Step 7: Essence
Essences are used to moisturise and prepare the skin for ampoule, hyaluronic acid, face oil and serum that is to come after this. It’s very much like the methodology of the skin as a sponge, once it is hydrated, everything will absorb more effectively. The Primera Miracle Seed Essence contains 93.1% of lotus seed extract to brighten your skin and reduce dark spots that is caused by sun damage.

Step 8: Ampoule
What is an Ampoule? This is a more concentrated version of a serum, I see it as more of a treatment. Although it usually comes in small bottles, a few drops of ampoule goes a long way in improve your skin condition. COSRX Propolis Light Ampoule contains 83% Black Bee Propolis extract to help restore and nourish your skin to make it glowing without the stickiness.
Step 9: Hyaluronic Acid
All of us have hyaluronic acid in our skin’s connective tissues, however unfortunately as we aged, the level of hyaluronic acid diminishes. Want to know what hyaluronic acid can do for your skin; look no further than babies’ skin, which is always so soft, full and smooth, this is as babies are born with level of hyaluronic acid. I rest my case.

Step 10: Face Oil
Oil? Surely not, won’t it clog my pores? Let me put your mind to rest, the special formulated face oil, will not clog your pores but rather is a heaven sent for weaken dull skin. It can be used by itself or by mixing together with your serum, essence or moisturiser. Check out the NEOGEN White Truffle Oil Serum.

Step 11: Serum
Serums contain active ingredients designed to target specific needs, from fine lines to large pores. To keep your skin in top condition always apply serum as part of your skincare routine. Primera’s Super Sprout Serum contains anti-oxidant to help restore weakened and dull skin.

Step 12: Eye cream
The skin around our eyes is thinner and therefore requires more hydration with special formulas to help brighten and de-puff to keep our eyes looking fresh. Check out COSRX Honey Ceramide Eye Cream to keep you looking your best.

Step 13: Moisturiser
I’m sure by now you are sick of hearing the word moisture and hydration. But all those products that you’ve applied would go to waste if not for the humble moisturiser which will seal in all the amazing product that have gone before it instead of letting it evaporate into thin air. My personal favourite is the Primera Alpine Berry Watery Cream, which delivers maximum hydration while still remaining lightweight.
Step 14: Sunscreen
We’ve all heard the saying prevention is better than cure, it is definately true here. You will not see any Korean women heading outdoors without sunscreen as the UV is the number one enemy for those of us who are trying to stay youthful. Think of UV as wrinkle and fine lines’ best friend.
I hope that I haven't overwhelmed you with all the fourteen steps. If it is any consolation, the face mask and eye mask is not something that you would need to incorporate into your daily skincare routine. Face mask would only need to be included in your routine 2-3 times a week and eye mask would be as required, with a bare minimum of once a week, to have that beautiful skin that you have always wanted. You could also combine some steps, face oil can be mix with essence or moisturiser so that it is one application instead of two.
Beautiful skin is just a few steps away, don't wait any longer to achieve that flawless skin. Think of the day not too far away when you'll be able to leave your make up behind because you don't need it any longer. Now that is my goal - to help all you beautiful people get the skin that you have always wanted.
